Originally a 10,000-acre ranch, bought by the Camarillo family in the mid-1870s, Camarillo as a city, didn’t truly begin its expansion until the 1950s, after the U.S. Route 101 was constructed. Today, it’s Ventura County’s fourth-largest city and one of the safest places to live in California; complete with a diverse range of visitor attractions, vibrant dining scenes, and amazingly friendly locals.
